The Hawaiian Islands – from the Air

The first leg of my trip home from Hawaii, took me from Honolulu, to Kona, on the Big Island.

I was amused by this sign in the Honolulu airport:

I fortunately had a window seat, and was able to see, first, Honolulu and Diamond Head from the air,

and then the string of islands stretching all the way south,
the last picture showing Hawaii, the Big Island, in the distance.

The airport at Kona is right on the ocean, and it is strictly ground level,
with all the gates in open areas under what look like thatched huts.

I only had a few moments to get from my arrival gate to my departure gate –
good thing it was only around the corner!
